Jamie Berry - Bsc Sport and Exercise Therapies

My name is Jamie Berry and my education consists of Batchelor of Sports and Exercise Therapies, Level 3 Sports Massage and Strength and Conditioning.

Throughout my life, the physiology and anatomy of the human body and how it functions has always been a fascination of mine. I have studied for many years in the sport and exercise industry and therefore, it is no surprise that I have taken the path which has lead me to be a Sports Therapist.

Since the age of 7 my grandfather introduced me to the world of Martial Arts and this was such a diverse and enjoyable sport, so much so I have continued throughout my life to studying JKD concepts and I now teach Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

I currently work with Prudhoe and Stocksfield Rugby Club as a Sports therapist, they have named me ‘Bones’ due to my vast knowledge and the array of treatments I perform. I have worked with Athletes such as the Newcastle Falcons and professional MMA Fighters. I treat clients from all walks of life and I have a wealth of experience with sporting injuries. I utilise many manual techniques such as Myofacial release and Sports Massage, Soft Tissue Release, Myofacial Trigger Point Therapy, and joint Mobilisation.

When not at work or studying, I am very active and enjoy rock climbing, orienteering and mountain biking. Due to the diverse nature of my experiences I have a strong understanding of the requirements and demands that physical activity has on the human body. My knowledge of training as well as work experience gives me a strong understanding of repetitive strain injuries caused by either work related injuries and acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries.

It is my beliefthat to be successful in sport and life the individual needs to be able to understand their body, including what occurs during the bodies return to its non-injury state. I am able to provide my clients with tools and knowledge to return to sport or an active lifestyle quickly and a decreased incidence of injury re occurrence.
