Now available at our Corbridge clinic:

  • Medical Acupuncture
    • As a physiotherapist clinic we use medical acupuncture as an adjunct to other skills commonly used within our practice such as tissue manipulation, joint mobilisation, ultrasound therapy, exercise prescription and biomechanical analysis. Acupuncture stimulates the nerves in skin and muscle, and can produce a variety of effects. It increases the body’s release of natural painkillers.
    • In a single session with Physio&Therapy UK you may well have access to all of these treatment types depending upon your symptoms and stage of injury. It is only if you require or request a specific session of one type of treatment that you will have dedicated session of that treatment alone.Acupuncture can be used for most injury cases and is useful for so many conditions.
  • Gait Lab & Footscan
    • Brand new technology just arrived in Tynedale that measures the way you walk or run in Physio&Therapy UK’s new GAIT lab. This new technology uses a special sensor that attaches to your lowest spinal vertebra (L5) and measures your pelvic movements through each of the key stages of the gait cycle.
    • The information provides a measure of symmetry in terms of forward and backward pelvic rotation, lateral, medial and elevation movements. With this information the team of clinicians at Physio&Therapy UK can diagnose an injury cause, predict injury potential and most importantly direct appropriate treatment for a faster recovery from pain.
    • In addition the new FOOTSCAN provides a 3D analysis of foot pressure during movement. Giving vital information to the clinical team on how you move through the gait cycle. Footscan can electronically advice on footwear and provide all the objective data required to produce the perfect insole for your shoes.
  • Shockwave Therapy
    • The latest treatment to be sweeping the nation just arrived in Tynedale. Until NOW only available to NUFC players or private patients at Nuffield Jesmond.
      What is it?
    • Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT), is a machine used to deliver sound waves to the painful area. 4 treatments are required over an average of 4 weeks. A randomised control study of 149 patients treated by ESWT reported that 69% of ESWT patients had an ‘excellent’ result (no pain).Clinical outcomes show a success rate of 70-80%
